Really fantastic bakery. Really nice people, great bread and baked goods. The olive loaf, Italian loaf and sourdough are on our regular rotation. We’re there several times a week.

The world’s best semolina bread, pleasant service… What more could you ask for?
The original il Fornaretto is still on 17th Ave. and the breads here are extremely comparable.
I read some bad reviews, and I would say don’t listen to them they sound like grumps who don’t like change as this space used to be a different type of bakery.

I came here for the first time yesterday due to all the rave reviews I read on Facebook. This place is an institution in Bay Ridge and justifiably so. Everything looks fresh and delicious. I opted to get some donuts and cannolis, which were both very good. I want to come back in the future to get their bread (I heard the soda bread is great), black and white cookie (that they are famous for) and the danishes. The lady behind the counter was so warm and friendly. But, be forewarned. This place is cash only and prices are very reasonable.

Okay pastries. I purchased four danishes, but they tasted a little dry. I will have to come back again to try some of their cookies.

I read the reviews and don't understand why there is so much negativity. I've been buying delicious fresh bread and focacia from these guys for several weeks now. Always polite and friendly.

Old style Scandinavian bakery. Everything we bought was fresh and tasty. Standouts were the crumb cake, and cheese danish. A nice remnant of old Bay Ridge.

This bakery has been baking bread for so long people have grownup rating there black white cookies with all there other delicious baked goods for over 50 years.
The bakery was closed for awhile but was reopened with new owners and kept the old tradition going as good as he could.
The only setback sometimes is the service is not as friendly as we remember but the women before was there for years and really loved talking to people. Not that the people now are unfriendly but if you were a regular customer the women would know your name.
The traditional bakery this is not this place bakes cookies, cakes that will blow your socks off.

1st time going before closing & was greeted as I came in. Got loaf of Brioche bread which is firm and tasty. The walnut brownie was so soft, chewy, & very chocolatly. Will go again to try other pastries...
